Government Shutdown in Effect – Here’s What You Need to Know
October 1, 2025
The federal government has officially shut down as Congress was unable to pass a funding bill in time. While the duration of this shutdown remains uncertain, Great Lakes Commercial Finance (GLCF), a trusted SBA 504 lender with decades of experience supporting small businesses across Michigan, is fully committed to helping you navigate this period.
Here’s what this means for you:
- October Debenture Sale: The debenture sale will proceed as planned and will not be impacted by the shutdown.
- Loan Applications and Submissions: We will continue to process your applications internally so that, once the government reopens, they can be submitted to the SBA promptly. While new loans and loan increases cannot be submitted during the shutdown, we are working to have your applications ready for immediate submission.
- Loan Servicing: Routine servicing functions, including collateral updates and other standard actions on previously funded loans, will continue. Loan increases and reinstatements are not available until SBA offices reopen.
- Loan Payments: Scheduled payments will continue as usual, without interruption.
- Guidance from NADCO: Our national association will remain operational and will provide timely updates from the SBA as new information becomes available.
At GLCF, we are here to answer your questions and help you navigate this period. Please don’t hesitate to call us at (616) 459-4825.
Please stay tuned for updates. We will continue to share information as it becomes available.
