We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Credit Analyst. This role supports the underwriting and credit analysis functions for SBA 504 loans and SBA 7(a) loans, along with other credit-related responsibilities across the organization.
The Credit Analyst will be responsible for reviewing financial statements, tax returns, and supporting documentation; analyzing borrower and project creditworthiness; and preparing clear, well-supported credit memorandums for loan presentation and approval. The position requires strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to interpret and apply credit policy and program guidelines, including those of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed credit analysis on SBA 504 loan transactions and, when applicable, SBA 7(a) loan requests
- Review and interpret borrower financial statements, tax returns, rent rolls, and other supporting documentation
- Evaluate borrower, guarantor, and project-level creditworthiness, including cash flow, collateral, and repayment capacity
- Prepare clear, accurate, and well-supported credit memorandums for internal underwriting and approval committees
- Ensure loan analysis aligns with internal credit policies and applicable U.S. Small Business Administration program requirements
- Assist in determining borrower eligibility and structuring considerations based on program guidelines
- Identify and escalate credit risk factors, inconsistencies, or policy exceptions as appropriate
- Collaborate with loan officers, closing, and servicing teams to support efficient loan processing and funding timelines
- Maintain accurate credit file documentation to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance
- Support portfolio and pipeline tracking through timely updates and file management
- Assist with special credit projects, portfolio reviews, and ad hoc analytical requests as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
- Prior experience in credit analysis or a related field is mandatory
- Two years of commercial finance experience (Preferred, not required)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Discretion and commitment to confidentiality
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills
- Ability to meet deadlines consistently
- Analytical skills to review and interpret complex financial data
- Close attention to detail and accuracy with financial statements
- Strong problem-solving abilities for managing servicing requests and unique situations
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools
- Passion for credit analysis and willingness to learn and grow in the field
